Jrue Holiday signs long-term extension, Al Horford acquired in trade

The Boston Celtics have announced their roster for the 2023-24 season, with a few notable changes from the team that reached the NBA Finals last year.

Most notably, Jrue Holiday has signed a multi-year extension with the Celtics, keeping the All-Star point guard in Boston for the foreseeable future. The Celtics also acquired Al Horford in a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers, adding a veteran presence and defensive anchor to the frontcourt.

The Celtics are hoping that these moves will help them bounce back from their disappointing loss in the NBA Finals to the Dallas Mavericks. The Celtics blew a 2-1 lead in the series, eventually losing in six games.

Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Marcus Smart will once again lead the way for the Celtics, with Holiday and Horford providing support. The Celtics also have a number of promising young players, including Robert Williams III, Grant Williams, and Payton Pritchard.

The Celtics will open the regular season on October 19th at home against the Philadelphia 76ers.
